Northern Bay College
Summit Building Co. was engaged by Plan Group to help create a dynamic learning space at Northern Bay College's Goldsworthy Campus.
The project required high-level technical skill, problem-solving and seamless collaboration.
Maxiply takes centre stage
The multi-purpose theater highlights Summit's skill in using innovative materials. CNC-cut Maxiply Maxi Panel on Okoume was used to create the curved wall panels, giving the space a dynamic look. Additional walls feature black Formply with custom perforations, ensuring optimal acoustic properties. The tiered seating, built by Summit, features Formply as a unique design element, demonstrating its potential as an aesthetic feature in addition to its traditional structural role.
Beyond the theater
The college foyer showcases Maxiply Maxi Panel on Rock Maple, creating a warm and welcoming feel. CMG Frames 3D-designed the custom steel trusses, lined with CNC-cut Maxi Panel on Bendy ply. Aligning these trusses with the curtain walls required careful attention to the complex 3D design, highlighting Summit's technical expertise.
Working together for success
This project demonstrates Summit's commitment to collaboration. Working closely with Plan Group, CMG Frames, and design consultants, Summit played a key role in ensuring every detail matched the architect's vision. The result is a beautiful, modern and functional space that meets the needs of Northern Bay College.
"Maxiply worked with Summit Building Co on the recent Northern Bay College project. The final result of the build reflects the immense possibilities of plywood"
